22 years later, the mysterious board game which brings all the dangers of the jungle to life returns in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson headlines an all star cast including Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan.
The 90’s board game is brought into modern times as we see it transform into a video game. Four high-school students then discover this and are sucked into Jumanji. From here they are tasked to return the magical jewel back to the stone idol it was stolen from.
There’s moments of comedy in the film as the in-game characters learn their strengths and weaknesses which appear to differ from their real-life characters.
The movie does show large similarities to the original 1995 version which can eliminate some of the surprises which make the film so entertaining. The film is a fun follow-up, with what it lacks in fresh storytelling it makes up with a talented cast of actors who never cease to hold your attention.
This is a great easy to watch family film.
