Kevin Hart and Bryan Cranston star in a story of an incredible friendship through extraordinary circumstances.
Hart plays ex-con Dell Scott, not long out of prison and searching for a job to help him support his ex-partner and son. A misunderstanding leads him to be employed as the carer for a wealthy man with quadriplegia. Together they form an unlikely relationship and teach each other something that they both desperately need.
Kevin Hart does not play his usual role of the likable, cheeky character, instead being introduced as sullen and even loathsome in some respects. As the movie progresses, Dell grows into a caring individual with an appreciation of the arts, while still keeping his more spirited nature. This is where Hart shines and takes the audience along for his journey.
Cranston is always good and his role as Phillip Lacasse is no different, portraying anger, heartbreak and joy with only his facial expressions and voice.
The film is a little predictable but is no less enjoyable. Some of the humour comes from the crudest moments but the film is still entertaining with a mixture of tears and laughter.
