Agatha Christies novel comes to life on the big screen, with a full star-studded line up including Johnny Depp, Judi Dench, Penelope Cruz and Michelle Pfieffer. In a race against time to solve a murder aboard the Orient Express before the culprit strikes again!
The sheer beauty and cinematic quality of Murder on the Orient Express kept me more than engaged without even mentioning the storyline. Thanks for that is owed to director Kenneth Branagh, who also stars as Belgian Detective Hercule Poirot. They have kept very close to the original text in terms of its twists, turns and plot.
There were dazzling continuous tracking shots in which we are introduced to this magnificent train as well as the passengers — all of whom soon will be suspects. The camera work and layout of these scenes are brilliant, and Branagh is clearly having a ball walking through it all as Poirot.
Branagh has given a familiar tale some extra bite, not to mention the best moustache in this age. A thrilling murder & suspenseful mystery filmed beautifully with spectacular acting from a great cast and director.
