The film is based on the incredible true story of WWE Superstar Paige, featuring The Rock.
The film is written and directed by Stephen Merchant plus he is in the film too. Its a humorous yet sincere story. Paige’s whole family are wrestling mad and perform a wrestling family show. Paige’s dad (Ricky Knight) played by Nick Frost and Mum are consumed by wrestling. The 3 children all want to try out for WWE. Paige and her brother Zak are given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to try out for WWE, but only Paige is successful in getting through the first round to the competitive training program, this leaves Zak at home in Norwich. The competitive training programme is run by Hugh (played by Vince Vaughn). Paige leaves for America to complete the brutal training regime to be selected for the WWE, meanwhile Zak continues his life back home. Paige’s journey pushes her to dig deep and ultimately prove to the world that what makes her different is the very thing that can make her a star.
