Maleficent : Mistress of Evil (PG)

By Film Club

Release Date: 18th October 2019

Review 5/5 Stars

I went to see Maleficent Mistress of Evil on Monday, I wasn’t looking forward to it but I was shocked and surprised to see such a brilliantly made film. What a treat! The film was exiting, happy, sad, and in some places scary. I really would have been happy if it had been twice the length. I did consider paying to watch it again but I had another appointment and wasn’t able to spare the time! Read More

3.5/5 Stars

This is a very well thought out DreamWorks animation movie which was great for the whole family. We all laughed and cried at points throughout this screening. There was a lot of laugh out loud moments and some very cute aaaaw moments too! There are a few twists and turns in this movie and certainly some great unexpected ones that no one saw coming! 5/5 Stars

We may have seen our fair share of attempts at DC  trying to steal the comic book movie limelight away from Marvel (and fail) and whilst no one asked for a Joker origin story this is definitely a viewing you don’t want to miss. Todd Philips directs this dark, brave and thought provoking story about how the Joker started as failed stand up comedian Arthur Fleck. Read More

I feel the film started with great expectations and looked like it was going to be a good action-packed movie. However as the film went on it seemed to be very slow and dragged on. Read More

Downtown Abbey (PG)

By Film Club

Release Date: 13th September 2019

4/5 Stars

The new Downton Abbey film is a must for all the fans of the hugely popular TV series- in fact even for those who do not watch the show. It’s beautifully shot and has a warmth around the characters. Even without knowing the back story to all the characters, the film provides enough for you to be able to establish each characters role from the series. With all the favourites back like Maggie Smith and Hugh Bonneville and Maggie Smith is particularly great throughout the film. The warmth and humour throughout the film and between the characters translates onto the big screen just as brilliantly as it did in the TV series. Read More

Review by Vicky Russell

5/5 Stars

Wow! What can say this movie is the best I’ve seen in a long time, plenty of action, lots of on the edge of your seat moments, as well as a few gory violent scenes. Around two or three emotional moments where I teared up. Read More

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (18)

By Film Club

Release Date : 14th August 2019

I was so excited to see this movie, and was not disappointed! This is such an unusual film. It doesn’t really have a storyline per se, it is more like a “day in the life of a fading Hollywood TV actor”, and it was absolutely fascinating to watch.
